Lousy second part; the original was still very entertaining and lively, this time things are annoying and quite static. The action scenes are nothing special either. Found in a dump bin for 1 euro. So properly disposed of.

After the mediocre first part, expectations for this sequel were very low. The stupid subtitle "Death of Love" speaks volumes. The only reason I've reviewed this movie is that I'm close to 250 votes on Japanese movies, which is, apart from a few movies, the total number of Japanese movies I've seen. So it's a small effort to review those remaining few unvoiced films.

In any case, Azumi 2 more than meets expectations, because it is indeed not much. A mediocre story where the denouement feels very forced, occasionally overly dramatic, and fights that come down to walking up to a male, giving him a blow that is not very visible, after which he falls over and you can move on to the next one. One character was cool though, that big guy with some kind of double sword weapon.

Also recognized some actors. Again the father from Visitor Q. Kind of strange, because he played a different role in the first part, but always nice to see. Furthermore, I recognized the antagonist as the ex-emperor from the J-dorama series Yoshitsune. Finally, the Kill Bill girl who also has a too small role here. Too bad, I only know of one movie with her in a leading role, Exte: Hair Extensions and that's not enough.

In any case, the mentioned bright spots are reason not to give the film the lowest rating. 1*.

And the Manga side again with Azumi 2. A few days ago part 1 tasted fine, it's not quite my genre, but otherwise it has quite a bit. In the meantime I had already read that part 2 is a bit less, and yes, that is true, but it did not bother me very much.

The land of the rising sun, on the brink of war, Azumi with henchman still doing the quest from part 1, but now they are suddenly hunted, outnumbered, they have to fight against strong enemies that are not so easy lead to the slaughter as in part 1. The story...well, the story, is there a story...? The plot with the remaining enemies can hardly be called a story, it is rather an excuse for violence. Violence that in turn is quite nice, albeit less in quantity, but the worst pain in that area is felt in the director's chair. Because where Kitamaru mainly approaches the Manga style stylistically, Kaneko loses himself in bland situations such as stupid sounds assembling and, for example, characters that fall apart in slices but still make noise in the form of a moan. Style errors that were not visible in the first part.

Nevertheless, Azumi 2 looks away easily, which is mainly due to the nice leading lady Aya Ueto. And of course there are a few nice fights, but it is clear that the film is less than part 1.
