The first 10 minutes sound like an episode of Peppi and Kokki, but then we really start and we get a no-budget, but very creative 80s horror movie. Normally these kinds of amateur works don't score very well with me, but here we fall from one surprise to the next.

Trash.

A trash film that takes a more playful approach, but not necessarily better. I watched this film in the context of a horror film event I attended, otherwise I would have skipped it. In fact, I would never have noticed this film.

From the very first moments it is clear that this film has almost no budget. The sequence at the fair is already so messy that it is difficult to tell the villains and the good guys apart. This continues for a good 10 minutes before they are suddenly in the hotel after 5 minutes.

The messiness then continues throughout the film. A film that I just don't think has any love put into it. It feels like the director had no idea what he was doing. Messiness and chaos dominate and you don't get a really calm whole.

The writing is also pretty bad. Characters react abnormally to things that should make you panic upside down. The acting is also predictably bad and doesn't want to stand out at all. The threats are also too cheap to make something really fun out of it. Any amateur director can throw a black cloth over someone.

Hotel does have some nice details and there is some experimentation but that is bitterly little to keep this above water as a whole. The bombastic finale is also really not nice or innovative at all, and furthermore the film continues to feel as if each shot only needed a single take to make.

This will never be my genre, there is simply nothing to experience here. The murders are simply not there, or at least that is how it seems. The fantasy elements fall through the cracks and everything feels rushed, the budget seems to have nothing to do with that. This is a completely lackluster film, which is short and still okay to watch. Furthermore, these types of films are not my thing at all. Did you know this one alexspyforever?

The title suggests a winter slasher, but that turns out not to be the case. The film is set in midsummer and the location is a hotel where time has stood still. The hotel is stuck in the year 1959 during a New Year's party and is populated by ghosts.

The film is a cheap rip-off of a film like Evil Dead. You should not expect anything from the actors. Nor from the story. It is pure pulp and has the most absurd plot twists. One absurdity follows the other. There is a lot of murder, but without first creating a good dark atmosphere or paying attention to the murder that is quite creative in the beginning, but just looks ridiculous. There is no tension. Sometimes large amounts of blood and a good dose of gore can make up for some of the poor quality. However, neither are present to any significant extent.

Bloody New Year is laughably bad and a complete waste of time.
