I've rarely, if ever, seen such a mindless court case as in the second half of this film. I was in fits of laughter at times. Ginger Rogers, in particular, is in top form, and although she was already in her early thirties when this film was made, she convincingly plays an eighteen-year-old. In between, Rogers also throws in a brilliant Charleston, further proof that she could dance superbly as well as act.

A delightfully slapstick film, good for an hour and fifteen minutes of pure entertainment.

A strange comedy that often isn't really funny. Is this woman being put on a pedestal to ridicule that fact? Or is it the media? I don't know, but either way, it's often not really funny and childishly over the top.

Still, there does seem to be a serious theme attached to it, when women do bad things then everything around it seems to become entertainment, maybe that is exaggerated with this form of satire but I found it overly childish.

the theme surrounding it is clear, (certainly in America) society does not really know how to deal with women who commit crimes, punishing them as harshly as men seems taboo, laughing about it seems like a very strange way of brushing aside the problem.
