And she told the animals, wandered in her search between trees. Many trees. In black and white. Finally in the snow she arrives at a frozen lake. Her voice sounds like music and always speaks directly to the heart. Where life and death meet, love gets the chance to say goodbye. Lies under the ice after 49 days Bardo her answer: The distant light, not to be confused with the other that shines so close?

A wonderfully atmospheric, contemplative, sometimes even meditative, visual story that uniquely presents a personal history.

As far as I know I had never heard of Laurie Anderson, so I am not a fan of hers, but I was curious about this film. I find it dreamy and beautifully executed, deep and spiritual. You have to like it. I found it too airy-fairy and not very interesting. Nice dog. A small pass (6). 3*

Laurie Anderson is an experimental performance artist in the style of Wim T. Schippers. This unconventional documentary is very similar to the recent work of Terrence Malick, with the major difference that Anderson's philosophical reflections are much more direct and her visual style is at the service of this very personal visual poem. It starts with the description of a surreal dream about her dog Lolabelle (who is sometimes replaced on screen by Archie or Gatto) that makes Laurie look at the world and at art in a different way. She also talks about the cause and consequences of a swimming accident she had when she was twelve and about the death of a friend who was a minimalist visual artist. With a running time of 75 minutes, Anderson gives a lot of food for thought without getting bogged down in pretension. Anderson's work is not made to please the masses, but she at least knows how to use visual language to visualize her story and that is admirable in any case. Anyone who remembers her from the cult hit 'O Superman' and the accompanying music video from 1981 will not be surprised.
