Clint Eastwood continues to prove that he can handle varying roles such as in Pale rider.

The film itself seems very old-fashioned, and sometimes quite slow.

I take as an example, as a disturbing factor, the group of prospectors in a tent camp or

wooden houses live and the way they do it so old fashioned.

The beginning of Pale rider as a group of horse riding cowboys

I also found trotting shooting through the tent camp very unbelievable.

Better give me the Sergio Leone trilogy .

So for Pale rider a 2.0

Great western film with fantastically beautiful images. The Blu-ray also looks sparkling, which makes the whole look even better. The story follows a well-known recipe. This time it's a group of faithful prospectors who have to leave their place, because LaHood wants an influential man to have everything on this "fertile" ground. That is not yet accompanied by deaths, but it is obvious that they have to leave. And then, of course, there's the savior Clint Eastwood who pretends to be a priest, which of course makes you frown right away. The playing is fine and doesn't feel old-fashioned to me as described above. It's a way of life. Occasionally rubs against Little House on the Prairie when it comes to the gold diggers, but otherwise it's just a very decent western film. What strikes me again is the love of the only 15 year old girl Megan towards the "Priest". The naive attitude of the prospectors to the village sometimes makes me frown. But I still think it's a very nice western film with a lot of beautiful things to see. The story isn't exceptional, but it's beautifully done. The pictures are beautifully shot and the sound with bullets and dynamite comes out nicely from your TV. Nice is also the mini role of Richard Kiel who, despite his big appearance, is never the real bad guy. Not even with James Bond.

Movie 4.0

And another western picked up at the thrift store, and one that I expected something from despite the not so high numbers.

There's not much to the story, an endangered settlement, and a gunslinger who comes to the rescue against a tyrant and his gang. It couldn't be simpler than you have to see the retroactive story that Preacher comes to help these people for a reason to lure Stockburn out of his tent that he knows will come. It doesn't really matter because it fits just fine.

Pale Rider also stands out, except for the stoic Eastwood, with beautiful snowy landscapes, some nice fights and gunfights and excellent acting. Also beautiful is the sometimes threatening atmosphere that tends to the mystical. Because who is Preacher? And above all what? Questions with no answers. I just think it's beautiful. The only and really big flaw is the young girl with feelings for Preacher. Didn't need me.

Pale Rider can therefore be called a sober but stylish western that fits me well.
