Closet Monster plot

Oscar Madley is a high school student and aspiring special effects makeup artist. His budding creativity is stifled by the Newfoundland town where he lives. After witnessing brutal beatings in his youth, he doesn't dare come out. Despite receiving much-needed support from his best friend Gemma and his hamster Buffy, Oscar is haunted by horrifying visions of his homosexuality being revealed. A fear that is reinforced by his judgmental and erratic father.
