Cocoon: The Return plot

"This holiday season, journey to the most wonderful place in the universe... home."

Five years after their departure to the planet Antaria, "youthful oldies" Ben, Mary, Art, Bess, Joe and Alma visit their family and friends on Earth. Some Antarians accompany them. They are tasked with recovering from the sea a number of 'cocoons', containing members of an Antarian expedition who had to be left behind on Earth years ago. Ben and Mary visit their grandson David. The child cannot cope with the divorce of his parents. Bernie Lefkowitz, an elderly good friend of our 'vital oldies' wants to commit suicide, but is 'disturbed' by his comrades.

The level of recognition is high due to the many encounters with characters from part one. The actors play with warmth and feeling and in that respect the sequel is certainly no worse than the original. It is a pity that little plot is added. Cocoon, The Return is just a bit too much like a weak carbon copy of Cocoon. The central question is: do we choose eternal life or to see our grandchildren grow up...

Completely unnecessary sequel. The story is not balanced and is told messily (some key scenes seem to be missing). The story is in any case very mediocre, and that while there was indeed something to be made of it. Strangely enough, it is completely left unspoken where the oldies have been in recent years. And that would have been nice to know or at least do something with it Effects have not improved since the last film but are used much more often than the previous film. The quiet, mysterious from the first film has given way to busy cheerful stuff. Nice to see the oldies from the last movie again.
