Sibaji plot
During the Chosun dynasty, an aristocratic couple has trouble conceiving a child, which really bothers them; giving birth to a son is an essential requirement for succession. The couple secretly sends a delegation to find a surrogate mother. The delegation ends up in a remote valley, where there is no surname and where there is a tradition of delivering surrogate mothers for a fee. The 17-year-old Ok-nye is chosen and must go through a series of rituals that increase the chance of giving birth to a son.
