A Walk to Remember plot

"It all comes down to who's by your side."

Landon (Shane West) is the popular kid at school who, along with his gang, insults anyone who doesn't live up to their standard. However, when Landon and his gang want to play a prank on a boy one night, it gets seriously out of hand and the boy ends up in the hospital. As punishment, Landon has to teach young problem students and also star in the spring play, which should put him back on the ground. He gets to know Jamie (Mandy Moore) from whom he reluctantly asks for help with these activities. Jamie, daughter of the local vicar, is serious, conservative and anything but contemporary but with a strong faith. Against his own expectations, Landon quickly falls in love with Jamie, who possesses a zest for life he never thought possible. But it's not easy, Jamie has her own reasons for fleeing love until it becomes impossible to deny it any longer.

Beautiful.

Slightly forced, but it works. The chemistry between the main characters is definitely present and that is something the film largely thrives on. In terms of plot it brings nothing new and the ending is of course a big cliché. Oh well, these kind of movies are good every now and then.

3*

Nice movie but I thought the transformation of the boy was very big. Nevertheless, it is beautiful what love can do to someone. Also Jamie's leukemia, who actually didn't look sick at all. It all remains very superficial except that she ends up in the hospital for a while and that's a shame. Despite these two minuses, I definitely got tears in my eyes. The chemistry between the two is not really forced and time is mainly taken. Furthermore, it may indeed feel a bit cliché in a number of areas: bad guy who trades in "friends" for someone who doesn't belong, father who doesn't approve, father of the son who abandoned him and mother and the now trying to make up for it. All in all a solid 4*. I expected a little more music and tighter direction.
