Cane e Gatto plot
"May the 'Police Farce' be with you...!"
Tony Roma (Tomas Milian) seduces and robs a senator's wife. Police officer Parker (Bud Spencer) is tasked with tracking down and arresting Roma. However, when Roma witnesses a mafia murder, he is chased by both Parker and the mafia.

Milian is much nicer than Hill, but of course it remains a very lame film as we are used to from Spencer. Yet in a strange way hugely entertaining. The title song alone (which recurs about a thousand times throughout the film) is worth its weight in gold; 'cats and dogs, heidi-ho...' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbGNSA1s1eM

Recently watched this on blu ray in the original Italian and perhaps because of that (without the poor English dubbing) a lot more fun than I remembered.
Spencer solo is always hit or miss and this time I lean more towards the former. Especially with the presence of that other greatness from the Spaghetti westerns Milian as a side kick.
Well, that Milian has always been someone who has a tendency to indulge in somewhat overacting, but the figure he portrays here is more like a character than a realistic person. Yet he knows how to get away with it completely and anyway to get the sympathy of the viewer.
Story is not that much: especially a lot of cat and mouse (the title says it all) chases and craziness between the two protagonists. Perhaps a slightly better written and developed script would have resulted in an even more fun and better film. Now it has become no more than 1 of the many Spencer vehicles, while - with an actor like Milian - it definitely could have been more.
A six, or 3 stars.
