A pleasant and amusing Resnais. A kind of chamber play. Unfortunately, the film fails to find the right balance between humor and wit. It ranges from genius to farcical old-fashionedness.

The biggest flaw was the casting of Gaëlle and Thierry, who were apparently meant to represent sister and brother, but there is a big difference between the thirty-something Gaëlle and the 65-plus Thierry.

Fifty-plus cinema, but still a solid three stars. A wonderful finale, by the way.

A slow-moving film that just won't get going, and by the end, we're back to square one. The acting is quite good (especially by Sabine Azéma and the always reliable Laura Morante), but the stories, which have little connection, are far too flat.
It's been a long time since Alain Resnais made a truly great film. He did a fantastic job, especially early in his career.

The premise is familiar, but I do love these kinds of films. Several storylines with different characters who are tangentially connected. The stories are primarily about relationships or the search for them. Sometimes funny, but also with a sad undertone, especially as the film builds towards the end. It's all beautifully done, and the acting is also excellent, although the characters initially all seem like caricatures of themselves, but that ultimately fits the story. A pleasant and beautiful film.
