"A man in search. A woman in need. A story of fate."
Shortly after World War II, young soldier Paul Sutton returns to America to find that his marriage is coming to an end. He accepts a job as a chocolate salesman and meets pregnant Victoria, recently abandoned by her lover. Paul poses as her husband so she can fearlessly return to her old-fashioned father's vineyard. While Victoria gathers the courage to tell her father that she is actually an unwed mother, she and Paul fall in love.

Beautiful romantic family drama. Maybe a little too sentimental here and there, but there's nothing wrong with that every now and then. In any case, I find it a pleasant film, although not as good as Arau's previous family chronicle Como Agua para Chocolate (1992). I have to add that the beauty of Aitana Sánchez-Gijón contributes greatly to my appreciation for this film and that also applies to Anthony Quinn.

A sweet romantic drama film.
In fact, this version with Keanu Reeves is a remake. The original version is from 1942 under the title 4 Passi fra le Nuvole (1942). 14 Years later Era di Venerdì 17 (1956) appeared. Screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen had his own vineyard at his disposal. The most dramatic thing that could happen with this is a vineyard going up in flames. Unfortunately, Robert Mark Kamen lived through this experience personally. This was eventually incorporated into the film. The film is a light-hearted combination of romance, drama and a touch of humor. Reeves plays a great role. Off the recording, the actor was slightly injured during a hockey game. He tore his upper lip. During the love scene with co-star Debra Messing, this resulted in the quote: "Please don't hurt me."
The soundtrack also plays an important role. Maurice Jarre won a Golden Globe in 1996. Unfortunately, there was also criticism. For example, Reeves was nominated for a Razzie as being the worst actor, but in my view this is completely unjustified. The film also received 3 other nominations.
Definitely reserved for those who love a simple, light-hearted and romantic drama film.
