In the near future, after a holocaust, the survivors are held in guarded camps. There they are hunted for sport by the leaders of the camp. Paul, one of the newbies, does not intend to give in to the evil overlords and fights back.

'Freedom is obedience, obedience is work, work is life'.
Thus reads the motto of the re-education camp where apostates are taught how to function as virtuous citizens in an authoritarian society that closely resembles an Orwellian society.
Social criticism, semi-intellectual drivel, and historical clarification are consistently omitted from this film. The camp and the inhumane conditions within it simply exist and serve no other function than to very quickly clarify who we, as viewers, are supposed to hate and with whom we are supposed to sympathize, so that we only have to sit back and devour combat action, sadistic games, and nudity. Exploitation, eh.
The main ingredient of the film is the hunt for a number of prisoners. And that makes for quite amusing viewing. The unequal struggle between the pathetic prisoners released into the jungle and the sadistic hunters is fast-paced and reasonably suspenseful. The confrontations are sufficiently varied. The hunters are delightfully flawed characters, each given ample opportunity to prove themselves with their own hunting method. The result is a number of fun scenes.
Furthermore, there is some blood and gore in the film. And of course (full frontal) nudity. Not bad at all. What is bad, however, are the special effects and some very poorly staged fight scenes where it is clearly visible that no punches are thrown. Not even worthy of a B-movie. Oh well, a minor letdown. The rest of the film looks acceptable enough and contains sufficient exploitation material to be satisfied.

It is the year 2000, and Australia has become a dictatorship. What kind of dictatorship isn't really that important, but in any case, they lock up dissenters in camps, only to go hunting them down. In a delightfully over-the-top manner, with the bad guys naturally sporting thick English accents. It is therefore no coincidence that this film is also known as Blood Camp Thatcher; one of the camp bosses is named that too. You shouldn't watch it for the plot, but otherwise, it is quite entertainingly trashy. They also throw in a sort of werewolf, a lady who goes hunting with a crossbow and horse, a sort of sadistic bald-headed Jerommeke, and there are quite a few fun kills. Not great, but certainly fun: Ozploitation with a capital O.

Trash cinema. You can tell that the makers put effort into making it look good, because for a cheap exploitation like this, the directing quality looks amazing, although the clumsiness sometimes drips from it (ridiculous fights, "corpses" that are still breathing, etc.). The HD transfer also ensures that this film has truly found a second life.
This is a precursor to Battle Royale, in the sense that here too, prisoners from a re-education camp are deployed in a manhunt in a wild, tropical environment. There is a lot of sadism, of course, in which murder and rape are an amusing pastime for the camp staff. Quite a few gory effects are also used.
I definitely wouldn't have wanted to miss this movie, because there is absolutely worse on the market. A solid 3*
