Boring Sect.

This film is highly regarded, but I'm not really that enthusiastic about it.

A bit long-winded and not a particularly interesting plot (despite the rather short running time). I also found the cinematography and soundtrack unimpressive. Nicely done here and there, otherwise average for this type of film. An oldie, of course, but still. I hardly recognize any "Giallo" in this either. 5/10*

Sort of on the same level as the previous "Your Vice Is...". Edwige Fenech plays her role reasonably well. George Hilton's added value, however, isn't that great. I feel like the whole cult thing could have been exploited a bit more. Since I watched the English dub, I wasn't bothered by Italian-speaking Londoners, but out-of-sync mouths aren't everything either.

Nicolai's soundtrack is quite strong and is reminiscent of Goblin in places. He clearly borrowed a bit (or vice versa).

The strange opening is great, and so is the psychological game with Fenech's character. Unfortunately, there are also some less interesting parts that slow the pace down a bit.

Entertaining, but not a masterpiece of its genre.

A great giallo. This one draws from the same vein as Rosemary's Baby with a satanic plot. Set on location in London and the surrounding area—with typical English country houses—it contributes to the creepy atmosphere. What's true and what's not? As a viewer, you're drawn into the world of Edwige Fenech, who is frequently on the verge of collapse. She plays her role perfectly. In the giallo genre, I often feel no empathy for the characters because it's often played with a detached approach. In this film, Edwige displays a sensitivity that allows for empathy with the character. The rest of the cast also does a fine job—in more detached roles, with familiar faces like George Hilton and Susan Scott. Sergio Martino's cinematography and editing are inventive in creating deliberately hazy scenes. Bruno Nicolai's music is superb and could be a twin to the Morricone soundtracks of that era (they were also friends, by the way). A very fulfilling viewing experience and one worth revisiting.
