Lightning over Water plot
Director Nicolas Ray is determined to make one last film before he dies of cancer. Wim Wenders is in Hollywood shooting his own film Hammett, but flies to New York to help his friend realize his dying wish. Ray's idea is to make a film about a dying painter who sails to China to find a cure for his illness. The two directors discuss the idea, but it's clear that the film will never materialize given Ray's very poor health.
