"Who knows the truth about the curse of Captain Clegg?"
1792. Captain Collier and his crew are sent by the English court to a small coastal town in search of smugglers. During his investigation, he discovers the mysterious ghosts from the surrounding swamp. Collier suspects that the smugglers' gang is behind this and that the slightly too friendly Reverend Blyss knows more about it.

Woland mentions Scooby Doo, but you could also mention, say, Suske en Wiske. This is an adventure film with a number of mistaken identities and unmaskings and a whole lot of silliness. It is notable, however, that Colier is not a pure good guy and Cleggs' funeral at the end is portrayed as a sad moment. Cushing is fun and has a delightful, ridiculous hairstyle. Things like that pull this up to 3 stars.
