Shock Treatment plot

"Trust me, I'm a doctor!"

The village of Brad and Janet, the main characters of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, falls victim to a strange TV program in which all the villagers are either participants or otherwise spectators. Brad and Janet are now married, but their marriage is not going smoothly. To spice up their marriage, Brad enrolls in the program but accidentally ends up in Dentonvale Asylum. Janet also seems to forget him when she is being wooed by a strange man.

Not as unique, musically exuberant and eccentric as The Rocky Horror Picture Show but at least a worthy successor. In the nice and thick television studio, the American 80s mentality is parodied wonderfully, less sharp and extensive than its predecessor (in any case, the film lacks any form of sentiment that RHPS was all about) but it remains entertaining.

Musically it is somewhat uniform, but there are many nice standouts such as "Bitchin' in the Kitchen", "Thank God I'm a Man" but especially "Little Black Dress". The wonderfully thick design, often very beautiful lighting (do I sense a hint of Suspiria?) and the Rocky Horror cast returning in other roles make this an excellent film. Shock Treatment is an enthusiastic and very fun musical.
