Kamchatka plot
Argentina after the military coup of 1976. A ten-year-old boy and his little brother have to move to an isolated house in a suburb. Their left-wing parents try to make it look like an adventure, but the boys feel the tension. They are no longer allowed to make phone calls and they even have to change their name. The eldest calls himself Harry, after his hero Harry Houdini, the man who knows how to get out of every situation. Self-reliance is the common thread of the story, which is colored by a voiceover of Harry as an adult. He outlines his youthful sense of doubt about the adult environment. His parents try to give their children a carefree childhood but are chased by reality. The magnified life with political repression as a magnifying glass.

A film about a 'heavy' subject, which you hardly notice. The 'heavy' subject is namely wrapped in a light and subtle story, which was sometimes a bit too light and subtle. The cast does a good job and the two children who played a lot in the film also did a good job (since things go wrong very often, when you want such young children to play such a big role). Where I sometimes have trouble with voice-overs (it just works better with one film than with another film), it didn't bother me here. The voice over is told from the point of view of young Harry, only he is years older. Not too much and not too little is said. A bit too subtle and meaningless at times, but overall very entertaining. 3*

Family drama about a family that had to go into hiding in Argentina shortly after the military coup in the spring of 1976 in an attempt to escape the brutal violence of the new regime.
