A Thousand Clowns plot
"... IT'S A LIFT FOR THE SPIRITS"
Twelve-year-old Nick lives with his somewhat run-down Uncle Murray who, above all, no longer wants to adapt to social norms. One day the social worker comes by and she falls in love with Murray. Meanwhile, Child Protective Services tries to force Murray to lead a "normal" life or else he will lose Nick. Nick tries to mediate in the matter, but when he succeeds, he is disturbed by his uncle's willingness to give in to the authorities.
