Paris Qui Dort plot

The mysterious beam of a mad inventor makes all the inhabitants of Paris freeze into a deep sleep. Only a few escaped the radiation and entrenched themselves on top of the Eiffel Tower. It's up to them to save the city.

Restored 4K version seen. Just like looking at moving postcards with those brown and blue colors. Paris has come to a complete standstill for unknown reasons. The night watchman of the Eiffel Tower is not relieved in time and once downstairs he sees motionless people everywhere. Then he meets a group of travelers who also seem to be spared by the "curse". Remarkable about this film is the way René Clair plays with movement and immobility, especially towards the end. It becomes clear how powerful a film is because of this. An image in itself suggests, a movement in that image tells.

The original recordings of 66 minutes no longer exist. This 4K comes closest to the original work at 59 minutes.
