Survival on the Mountain plot

Joe and Amy Hoffman want to go trekking in Nepal on the occasion of her 40th birthday. They leave their children at home with Amy's mother and stepfather. Amy's mother is very concerned, but Amy reassures her that they will stay well below the snowline and not actually climb Mount Everest. After their arrival, Joe and Amy arrange for guides to discover the area. After they leave base camp, unusual for this season, a typhoon arrives, bringing with it a massive snowfall. The guides have heard the avalanches and wake the group at night, hoping to arrive at base camp in time.
