Entertaining.

But not much more than that.

The dialogues are sometimes funny, but this typical 70s crime film does not stand out anywhere. This is mainly due to the gritty story that seems to be made up of coincidences etc. The execution is also questionable.

Wayne actually looks too old for this role and McQ is unfortunately no Callahan either.

Reasonable.

This solidly made police film is not good. Not bad either, but not good either. John Sturges was a great director, although the films at the end of his career were not his best. This film is soberly made. The camera work is very nice and the atmosphere is not bad either. But nowhere does it reach a high level. It is not really boring, but it certainly does not leave an impression either. John Wayne plays quite well. He is actually a bit too old, but he did a reasonable job. The rest of the cast was also acceptable. But okay, the film has a lot of solid points and it all looks quite neat. But again, I will have completely forgotten this tomorrow. Inpact = 0.0%

Saying that McQ disappointed me would be a lie. Wayne is indeed a bit old for this kind of characters at 66 years old when it was filmed (give me Steve McQ then), but otherwise this is a typical 70s cop movie, with informants, corrupt cops, shabby locations and of course car chases and twists. Great, right?

In McQ, the eponymous police officer must investigate the death of his colleague. At times, the content feels a bit like a TV series like The Streets of San Francisco

Not the best in its genre but I can't complain either. I got what I wanted!
