Otokonokao wa Rirekisho plot

Eight years after the post-war chaos of 1948, we see Amamiya, a surgeon in a dilapidated hospital who has just served a prison sentence. When a seriously injured man is hospitalized after a car accident, Amamiya initially refuses to operate and orders that the victim be taken to a larger hospital. However, he recognizes the man as Sai, who fought with him under the Japanese name Shibata during the war in Okinawa, and who was also involved in the post-war conflicts between ethnic Korean ('Zainichi') mobsters and the local Japanese population. A battle that Amamiya also unintentionally got involved in.
