"You can't choose who you fall in love with"
Cassandra Mortmain struggles to survive in a dilapidated British castle. Her father is a writer who was once successful but hasn't written anything for 12 years and the rest of her family is a colorful bunch that isn't exactly helpful to Cassandra. When American Simon Cotton and his brother arrive, Kassandra sees in him her salvation. She is determined to make him fall in love with her and it looks like she will succeed, although her family proves to be another difficult obstacle.
