Although some of the jokes were less, I still had a good time with this comedy. Madeline Kahn was superb as always. The best parts were the part about the French Revolution and the part about the Last Supper.

In History of the World: Part I, various time periods are ridiculed. The film begins in the time of the cavemen, followed by the Roman Empire, the Spanish Inquisition and finally the French Revolution. The plot doesn't make sense: it's pointless bullshit for an hour and a half. Every now and then it even becomes too banal for words. There are only a handful of jokes that bring a smile, but overall it's all very bland. It may have been all very funny at the time, but this clearly didn't stand the test of time.

Incidentally, the film ends with a hilarious teaser of History of the World: Part II, which was never to come. And that's actually the film's most successful joke. 2.5*
