@horrorfan17: this is not a horror film, but a horror/comedy. You shouldn't want to compare the two.

I still found the movie amusing. The film takes out all the clichés from the slasher film and makes fun of them.

The stupid characters have to do the rest. Not always funny, because not all characters are equally fun. The masseur is still funny, but the rasta is not at all.

They could have shortened it a bit, but overall it's still quite an entertaining film.

Easy.

Sunny slasher created by individuals working in the comedy business. That is also good to read from since this film contains enough of it. It's just a shame that few jokes hit the mark, but at least it remains entertaining and that probably counts more.

As is often the case with slashers, the setting in which the bloodshed takes place is more fun than the story itself. In this case, we're on an island in some sort of summer camp, an almost ideal setting in which to set up your horror movie. It all gets more fun quickly, and the tempo skyrockets with it in a crazy way.

The acting is in any case pretty bad, except for a few names. Director Chandrasekhar himself decided to play along for example and is completely absorbed in his role, but he is not funny. A lot of the humor elements also include sex and limb jokes that often miss the mark.

Most power comes from the setting and the murder mystery. It's just a shame that you as a viewer can never really puzzle because there are too many characters that are not explored enough. This way you can never really suspect anyone, and in the end the perpetrator himself turns out to be completely taken out of context.

Kills are also quite funny and even with a wink sometimes. The horror is often also comedy oriented by performing many of the kills in a funny way. It provides some pretty clumsy moments that certainly stand out, and regularly with enough blood and funny aftermaths.

Besides the fact that it takes a bit too long, Club Dread looks pretty cool and has enough pace and events to keep things entertaining. It's not all that hilarious, but there are enough clumsy murders and a healthy pace to keep it fun. Not bad for once, but not brilliant either.

Club Dread

Moderate horror/comedy. It's that Brittany Daniel played in it, what a beautiful woman she is!

The movie itself was pretty stupid and funny at times, but unfortunately not enough.

2.5 stars.
