"A woman inspired by a man of dreams swept into the arms of a general, and drawn into a worlds of danger."
An American (Fonda) decides to become a teacher in Mexico in 1913. Once there, she finds herself in the maelstrom of the Mexican Revolution. She attracts the attention of two men; General Arroyo, who fights for freedom with the rebels and an American writer who has come to Mexico to die.
