"Norman Bates is back to normal. But Mother's off her rocker again!"
Norman Bates has been at large for some time now and is still in charge of the infamous Bates Motel. One night he is visited by a girl who has escaped from a monastery and he gives her a room. Suddenly having his hands full, Norman decides to hire a young man who can help him. However, when the outside world learns that Norman still lives at the motel, a reporter decides to investigate and confronts Norman about his past.

Weak film, Perkins is still nice, but the character Bates has been changed (wrongly), weak plot, otherwise very poorly acted, not original (very similar to 2), but reasonably directed, looks atmospheric (better than part 2) and the ending is also weak and ends with a fizzle. 2*

Pscyho 2 was a huge surprise for many and is now known as a very underrated horror film and a lot better in quality than many interchangeable slashers. Psycho 3, on the other hand, has become such an interchangeable slasher. Calling something like that sacrilege goes too far, but it is special to see horny teenagers and bare breasts in this film series in particular. Because Psycho is of a different caliber than Friday the 13th, while this film goes much more in that direction. Psycho 3 is ultimately not a bad film, but there is little surprise. Actually, the biggest surprise is that this part was directed by Anthony Perkins himself.

Director and actor Anthony Perkins decided to take the lead for the third film, but failed to add anything of added value. Of course, that is also difficult with a basic concept where most of the story has already been told, but the lack of substantive creativity is what specifically kills it here. Nevertheless, Perkins himself remains an interesting character and the film looks decent, but unfortunately offers little innovation. The same set-up with the same poorly acting secondary characters is used again and this time the film has little mystery to solve. I was never a big fan of the series, but I can't deny that it brought something quirky before. In any case, Perkins has now made a very regular contribution that does not entirely fit into the big picture.
