Malevil plot
When a nuclear war breaks out in Europe, visitors to a local castle take cover in the basement. When they come out again, they see that the castle has been largely destroyed and the surrounding land destroyed. They start rebuilding the castle themselves and growing their own food. After defeating the fascist Fulbert, some of his henchmen join them and establish a new community.

French cult. A group of villagers tries to survive after a nuclear apocalypse. This is definitely a film for those who want to go off the beaten track. Malevil has something; more to praise for the rough atmosphere than for the acting and the little dialogue. The film is deadly serious, gloomy and scary. I found the scary first hour of awareness to be intense. The switch from the green countryside of the opening sequence and the charred smouldering world afterwards was convincingly conveyed. Then follows the slow adjustment of man to his new post-apocalyptic living environment. Not an easy film to get through but quite well done for its time.
