Decent documentary, seen on TV. Did have to search for the link on MM here. On TV, this documentary was titled "Caravaggio: The Vanished Masterpiece". So not much to see with this French title.
The documentary I saw on TV was a dubbed version in Dutch, which I was happy about.
Depicts the quest for the origin, discovery, and journey of this magnificent work by Caravaggio. Alongside this masterpiece, Caravaggio's life is also described in detail. He certainly didn't strike me as a pushover. He possessed magnificent painting talent, but he undoubtedly had a talent for quarreling and fighting as well. It is remarkable how he—almost always—repeatedly managed to escape all the misfortune he brought upon himself. Not many would have emulated him for being approved by the Pope for the Maltese Cross as a murderer.
Now, his talent is undeniable. And fortunately, he always found a way out, otherwise the world would have missed out on all those beautiful works.
Definitely recommended for the refined minds among us.
