Becket Redfellow (Glen Powell) takes revenge on the wealthy family who disowned his mother (Nell Williams) when she was pregnant with him. He can acquire the family fortune if he can get rid of his cousins. Spurred on by childhood sweetheart Julia (Margaret Qualley), he decides to start with his cousins. Seemingly inspired by Ealing comedies like The Ladykillers and Kind Hearts And Coronets, Powell is hopelessly miscast in the lead role. Irony is unfortunately replaced by cynicism, making this more tasteless than funny. The romantic side plot doesn't help matters.

A decent interlude in the cinema that occasionally drags a bit despite its relatively short length, and is also a bit too dull to be truly enjoyable. Not quite cynical, not quite full of black humor, etc. Powell is a prime example of good casting, as he has an intrinsically sympathetic quality, which is part of such a role; you still want to root for him despite all his antics. He does fill the role somewhat blandly, though, as is the case with half the film. The love plot also seems a bit off-putting. In short, I have some criticisms, but I wasn't bored, so rounded up, it's still good enough. 3.0*

A decent film about an heir trying to hasten the arrival of his inheritance. An original story that's a bit repetitive, but remains entertaining. Not the most believably developed characters, but well-rounded by a decent cast. It could also have been a bit sharper in places.
