Still, a decent film. I also laughed a few times at the dark humor. Some scenes don't pan out well and are very illogical. Nevertheless, definitely worth watching.

South African director Danishka Esterhazy seems to be overlooked by most horror fans, but she has since delivered some very high-quality work. "Match" marks a strong comeback after a number of misfires or disappointing results, proving she hasn't lost her touch. The film is atmospheric from start to finish, delivers powerful horrors, and isn't afraid to provoke some controversial design. Although it never achieves nail-biting tension and the filmmaking can sometimes look rather cheap, Esterhazy pulls it off convincingly. The finale is otherwise highly entertaining, but feels a bit rushed, especially towards the end. A small bonus, by the way, for Humberly Gonzalez's excellent performance in the lead role.
