Another solid crime documentary from Netflix, about the murders and death penalty of prostitute Aileen Wuornos. During an interview after the murder trial, she admitted that she only committed the first murder after an alleged rape by a client. She apparently committed the other six murders for less serious reasons, such as a client who was dealing drugs and another client who allegedly hit her on the hand. Imagine letting someone like that into your car, hoping for a quickie!
It is also striking that convicted serial killers often have fans on the outside (and even people who fall in love with them) while they await the execution of their death penalty.

Yet another documentary about Wuornos? Frankly, I'm getting a little tired of them. It's the same story as many serial killers: a terrible childhood!
But there are millions of people with terrible childhoods, but for serial killers it remains primarily a defect in the brain, but together with the traumas they form a dangerous cocktail.
Sometimes I wonder why the US has so many serial killers, there are already about 3,500 known.
I'm also bothered by the nonsense that's common in almost every American true-crime series. God made us find Aileen and sent her our way... man, oh man.
And then those idiots who adopt Wuornos when she's already in jail.....its a god thing...ripe for incarceration
She wasn't treated fairly, especially her first victim, but seven people were still murdered....

On October 9, 2002, Aileen Wuornos was executed, having been found guilty of the murder and robbery of seven men. British documentary filmmaker Nick Broomfield portrayed Wuornos in 1992 and made a sequel in 2003, the year Charlize Theron played her in Monster, a dramatized reconstruction of the events. Australian visual artist and filmmaker Jasmine Hurst felt a kinship with Aileen Wuornos, sharing a history of sexual abuse. They exchanged letters, and Hurst obtained permission to interview Wuornos. Turner raises underexposed questions about the prosecution's bias, the withholding of crucial evidence, and other questionable tactics that contributed to Wuornos being dismissed as an unreliable witness. This makes it a valuable addition to previous films about this tragic case in every respect.
