Mononoke Movie 2: Hinezumi plot

The medicine seller who hunts demons in feudal Japan reappears in the inner chambers of Ooku Palace. Since the previous events, changes have been underway, including a strict leadership style, which is causing growing tensions. Simultaneously, a series of strange incidents begins, with people spontaneously combusting and being reduced to ashes. Nice sequel.

No introduction needed, we'll jump right into a new case, in a familiar setting with familiar characters. So, it helps to have seen the first film. Anyone who didn't like that one won't be thrilled with this one either, as the style is identical.

The pace is fast, visually stunning, the soundtrack is also very present, and the mix of mystery and political wrangling makes it all very dense. I love it and am very happy that a third film is coming. It's a bit of a shame that these films are so underrated. But this isn't really the time for originality.
