A nuclear missile is flying toward the United States, killing millions. Countless people in the Pentagon and the White House are scrambling to take precautions and gather all the facts for the president, who faces the excruciating dilemma of not reacting, hoping it was a mistake and that's it, or reacting, which will destroy almost everyone on Earth. That dilemma alone is interesting, but the film doesn't even show what the president decides. The entire film simply depicts the procedures followed in such a case, which is simply not interesting for laypeople like us. To make matters worse, you see the same thing three times, but from the perspective of the different departments that are then called into action. Of course, the personal side is also shown, with people calling home to say they love each other, but that cliché isn't interesting either. This is possibly the most boring and terrible film I've ever seen: I can only give it one star for the effort.

The film was, of course, made because the topic of impending nuclear war is once again relevant. But while Kubrick addressed this topic interestingly in his 1964 film Dr. Strangelove, this film does nothing interesting. Perhaps the film's interesting point is that in such a situation, numerous procedures are followed, but the president ultimately cannot follow a procedure to decide, but that's not interesting: the reverse situation, where the decision is also automatic according to procedures, is interesting and the theme of Kubrick's film. Even my review is more interesting than this film. Did I mention the film is completely uninteresting?

A nuclear missile has been fired at Chicago, and military, diplomatic, and political leaders shout orders and look worried to the tense music. Of course, the president [Idris Elba] has the final say. An incident that lasts almost 20 minutes and is told from alternating perspectives. After the initial narration, you've seen it all; what follows adds little. The cast does what it can. It pales next to Dr. Strangelove, Fail Safe, and The Day After.

A good film about a missile being fired at the United States. A kind of modern-day Fail Safe. Lots of characters, but without it becoming disjointed. Because of the setup, it does get repetitive. Nevertheless, it's still quite exciting here and there. A good film, but also a slightly frustrating ending.
