I went into this film with high hopes, expecting a story about loss, identity and fatherhood to touch me. Unfortunately, the end result was a disappointing mess where no emotion was conveyed in a believable way.

What was supposed to be an emotionally charged story is filmed in an almost comedic style that doesn’t fit the theme at all. Take the scene where Gallo sees his ex-wife die in front of his eyes after a tragic accident — a moment that should be deeply moving. Right? But there’s still a grain of emotion to be found. As if nothing serious happened.

The confusion is compounded when it turns out that his son is actually someone else's biological son. Here too, there is no credible reaction. Instead, there is a search for the real father, which you would expect to bring the story to a meaningful climax. But no. The film ends without resolving anything: the biological father is never found and the 'strengthened bond' between father and son feels more like a feeble attempt to close the story.

Yes, the message could be that blood ties don't always determine paternity. But if you spend an entire film on finding the biological father, it's downright disappointing to not do anything with it in the end.

In short: a film with potential that completely fails. Emotionally flat, poorly developed and an ending that raises more questions than it answers.
