The beautiful old Iraqi city of Mosul was conquered by ISIS and became one of the most hated places in the world. After the war of liberation, the old city was left in ruins. Can the people of Mosul rise again and heal their broken souls?

The biblical Iraqi city of Mosul was held by ISIS from 2014 to 2017. Now, much of the city lies destroyed. This documentary follows three men clinging to the way things used to be. Bashar has returned to his destroyed home and is trying to salvage what he can, while overlooking the city and the Tigris River from his usual spot. Fakhri keeps the culture alive by filling his home with collected objects. Violinist Fadel evokes memories with his atmospheric music and reinforces the sentiment. While it's an interesting document of the inhabitants of a destroyed city, it loses credibility due to some clearly staged moments.
