Because property developers are destroying the cultural heart of Providence, Rhode Island, a quartet of artists led by Michael Townsend decides to convert an empty space in the Province Place Mall, completed in 1999, into an art studio and potential residence. How they managed to work there unnoticed for four years is only one aspect of this fascinating documentary. It also reveals the backstory of these artists and the impact they have with their artistic expressions. It also offers a nice glimpse into what it means to live for art and to turn your life into a grand work of art, without becoming pretentious. A strong plea for the support of art in all its forms.
