Where Olive Trees Weep plot

"Nobody is free until we are all free."

A documentary that provides an insight into the lives of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. Palestinian and Jewish journalists, scientists and activists talk in detail about themes such as loss, trauma and the search for justice. For example, we are taken into the story of renowned Hungarian-Canadian physician and Holocaust survivor Dr. Gabor Maté, who offers trauma healing to women tortured in Israeli prisons. The film shows the deep scars of oppression, but also calls for mutual solidarity and justice.

Cinematographically very beautiful with wonderful images and music.

I want to say so much more about this, but my words will never be able to cover the enormous suffering inflicted on the Palestinians. The images in the documentary are heartbreaking, and the speakers are right: How can it be that the world watches and thinks it is okay that an entire population is colonized for decades, held captive and is now being wiped out. I cannot and will not understand it. At the end credits, the room was deathly silent, except for a few crying people, including myself. Damn, this one hit home.
