Jennie Livingston's documentary *Paris Is Burning* (1990) painted an authentic picture of the New York drag scene at the time. The film had a major influence on the LGBTQIA+ community. Venus Xtravaganza was one of the main characters. She was violently murdered before the film was released. More than 30 years later, her biological brothers want to have the case reopened and pay Venus the honor she deserves. In doing so, they involve Amara Xtravaganza, the current mother of the house where Venus began her second life and started a new family. The openness with which two worlds that are difficult to reconcile (the reasons for this quickly become clear) are approached is remarkable. A worthy tribute to Venus and her many fellow sufferers, but also an example of how a single, well-considered gesture can foster mutual understanding and respect.
