After running into trouble again with a host family, Christy is placed with his half-brother Shane [Diarmuid Noyes], from whom he has been estranged since the death of their mother. For Shane, it's a temporary solution, especially since Christy is almost 18. In Cork, Christy falls in with a group of young people, but a manipulative cousin [Lewis Brophy] threatens to get him back into trouble. This coming-of-age drama isn't remarkable in terms of plot, but scores highly thanks to the natural acting of the young cast. The casual interactions during a birthday party and on Bonfire Night, in particular, lend it a unique sense of authenticity. At the end, stick around for a rap video in which four young cast members wittily describe their lives in Cork. Despite the heavy subject matter, it will leave you with a smile.
