The cinematography is magnificent, the thunderous choral singing, the close-ups of their mouths with pursed lips, beautifully and subtly filmed. The looks, the discomfort, the curiosity, and the doubt of the young protagonists. A beautiful and subtle coming-of-age film that only a woman can direct. The last few shots are beautiful.

A Catholic girls' choir travels to a convent to rehearse intensively. The 16-year-old newcomer [Jara Sofija Ostan] befriends roommate Ana-Marija [Mina Svajger], who will play a key role in Lucija's journey of self-discovery. The opening shot already indicates that Djukic is certainly not subtle with subtle metaphors. The brilliantly edited (visuals and audio) choir rehearsals emphasize the individuality (in close-ups) and solidarity (in the multi-part singing) of the girls, but also the fact that Lucija has not yet found her voice, literally and figuratively. The reprimand from the (male) choir leader [Sasa Tabakovic] is the dramatic highlight in this routinely written Slovenian coming-of-age drama. Ostan gives a masterclass in acting with her (expressive) eyes in her impressive film debut.
