"High School Can Be A Killer"
Abbie Bladecut is a teenager torn between the macabre traditions of her family's bloody business and the tender feelings of her first crush. In the small town of Clover Falls, Abbie's father, Roger Bladecut, has built a notorious legacy by recording real-life murders on tape and selling them to eager customers. But as Abbie delves deeper into the gruesome family business, she begins to wonder if it's time to give the family tradition a new twist.

Director Matthew John Lawrence creates an original and unique world in which murderers record and sell their crimes. In that respect, violence is quite normalized and can serve as a vehicle for social critique, but the film explores very little in that regard. Instead, it's a standard romance with clichéd emotions, downsides, and high school humor. A real shame, because its strength lies primarily in the modern directorial technique, the bloody murders, and the smooth tone. Perhaps this film could work better with adjusted expectations on a rewatch, but the first viewing will quickly prove disappointing.
