The Passenger plot

"No way out. No way back."

Hassan is a Somali-American airport driver in Minneapolis, struggling to make ends meet. When Lloyd, a twentysomething stranded at the airport, pays Hassan to take him to Chicago, it seems worth the risk. But as the realization grows that his passenger is not what he seems, Hassan finds himself trapped in a terrifying ride from which he can’t escape, knowing that saving himself could endanger countless others.

Weak thriller. The story is simple and holds no further surprises. The execution is quite boring. The build-up takes a very long time because very little happens in the first 40 minutes. Only then does the thriller part really begin, but unfortunately, that is disappointing too. There is hardly any suspense, and furthermore, it is very predictable. There are a few small action moments, but they don't amount to much. The filmmakers try to add some drama, but that doesn't get off the ground either. Hounsou delivers a strong performance, but McPhee fails to convince. 1.5/2.0
