A cheap Halloween film that gets off to a rather slow start in the first half hour, with the cheap look and very basic makeup spoiling the fun. Director Jacob Ennis tries to create a youthful horror film, using the requisite humor and wacky ideas, but the creatures and general design feel far too easy. After the introduction, however, The Town Without Halloween gains momentum, with much more dedication to atmosphere creation and a likable cast. Despite lacking the funds to get more out of this film, the filmmakers do enough to create a fun environment where the humor works considerably better and there's still a nice dedication to practical effects. You have to be forgiving at times to appreciate this, but I must admit I quite enjoyed it.
