Penalty Loop plot

After the murder of his girlfriend, Jun has only one burning wish: to put the death penalty back on the agenda. More specifically, on Monday, June 6th. Then he sneaks into the factory where the murderer works and kills him with a large dose of rat poison in his Nespresso, finally dumping the body in a lake together with a few concrete blocks. But the next day is apparently June 6th again and he is trapped in a time loop so that he has to repeat the killing over and over again.

Cool.

I'm not the biggest fan of time-loop films, especially because they often have a very similar structure (and a fixed ending). Usually, the purpose of the loop becomes clear very quickly, and the rest of the film is then spent executing the perfect loop. This film reverses that, leaving you with no clear idea of where it's going next.

Furthermore, it boasts skilled direction, top-notch audiovisuals, good acting, and perfect pacing. It's not that this film truly excels on all these counts, but there's also very little to criticize. And what's especially amusing is that halfway through the film, you still don't really have a clear idea of what's going to happen next.

4.0* and an extensive review
