In between These Mountains plot

Filmmaker Olivier S. Garcia invites his American half-brother Erik and father Tony on an adventurous trek through the breathtaking mountain landscape of California. As they begin their journey, threatening clouds gather. The men struggle with their family history in their own way. The rugged environment not only confronts them with the grandeur of nature, but also forces them to face their inner conflicts and mutual tensions.

After his 50-year-old half-brother Erik has served a prison sentence, 28-year-old Olivier invites Erik and his 70-year-old father Tony for a trip to the mountains. The fact that Olivier and Tony have to travel to the US by plane already gives an indication of the distance that literally and figuratively exists between Erik, his father and his half-brother. During the trip, old pain regularly surfaces and that provides compelling, exciting moments. The problem is that Garcia remains vague about the real reasons for Erik's family traumas.
