What's wrong with Yeam?
Straightforward horror, which although feels somewhat refreshing because it is a Thai production, but unfortunately never really becomes scary. The story is also not very original and feels quite standard. There are a number of spooky moments, mainly due to the disturbing looks of the actress who plays Yeam, but all other horror is too inconsistent to really stick. In addition, there are a number of scenes that are so ridiculous that it was difficult for me to take the story seriously.
It's always good to broaden your horizons by giving as many non-Hollywood productions a chance as possible. But what can be a box office hit in one country of origin may not always have the same effect outside of it. Perhaps also a matter of personal taste, but I was able to sleep well with my lights off.

Because I really enjoyed Attack 13, I immediately wanted to see more work by director Taweewat Wantha, and Death Whisperer is frequently cited as his most famous work. Unfortunately, this is a result that feels a little too comfortable and indulges too much in screaming, sensationalism, and long running times. In this instance, the content in no way justifies a run of over two hours, and the acting performances of some of the cast members are abysmal. Rattanawadee Wongtong, in particular, is given far too much leeway to pull strange faces that are laughable rather than terrifying. On the other hand, it is a film with a stable atmosphere, plenty of scares, and a number of effective ghost moments. The finale is certainly worth the wait, the build-up less so.
