Gene, a wounded American pilot, and his fiancée Penny, a foreign intelligence agent, retreat to a remote estate in Massachusetts to stay with Penny's distant uncle Robert. Unbeknownst to Penny, her employers have recruited Gene to spy on the family and the surrounding community. Top secret documents relating to the D-Day invasion have been stolen by an enemy mole who wants to hand the plans over to the enemy.

In 1944, Gene Lewis (Jake Abel) returns to the United States after being wounded in France fighting the Germans. He is reunited with his fiancée (Brianna Hildebrand), with whom he visits her uncle (John Cusack) and aunt (Mira Sorvino), who raised Penny after the tragic death of her parents. But Gene has been given a secret mission and mistrusts his Belgian guest, Viktor (Géza Röhrig). The focus on American support for National Socialist ideology is intriguing, but the execution is vague, frequently confusing, and ultimately downright ludicrous. Cusack and Sorvino have seen better days.
