Le Moine et le Poisson plot
A plump and exuberant monk goes fishing, but a playful fish avoids him. First the monk uses a fishing rod and reel, then a net; time and time again he ends up fishless and wet. Sleepless, he tries to lure the fish at night with a row of candles. He tries a bow and arrow. The tireless and indifferent fish leads the monk through a viaduct, over irrigated steppes, over water reservoirs and through canals. Suddenly the chase of the monk and the teasing flight of the fish become a spiritual journey.

There are currently several Dudok's on Mubi. I didn't think this one, so I looked it up on YouTube. La Tortue Rouge (Film, 2016) is miles away from the rest of his oeuvre. The rest may be shorts, but even Father and Daughter (Film, 2000) is by far his best.
I couldn't do much with this either. A monk goes fishing, but the fish are not so easy to catch. Visually very simple, quite light and cheerful/playful. But the clue escapes me a bit.
